Please be advised that there iswith a public ordericaTo 13th June 2025 in the Official Gazette (SO 2579(E)), the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries has officially amendedicato the terms of applicationication of the “Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technica(l) Regulation Order, 2024”, the rule that imposes the obligation to certifyication for several categories of electrical machinery and equipment placed on the Indian market. The entry into force of the obligation was moved from the original term (one year from publication)ica(the 2024 Order, which took place on 28 August 2024) as of September 1, 2026.
The PDF of the Amendment Order 2025 is available on the Ministry of Heavy Industries website at THIS LINK.
The extension concerns the entire range of products listed in Annex 1 of the standard, including complex industrial machinery, automation equipment and electrical systems. The obligation to certifyication – to be obtained according to industrial standardsicaby the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) – will be required for both finished products and components, sub-assemblies and sub-assemblies, for which the Government may set further specific dates of application.ication.
The update represents a breathing space for foreign manufacturers, who will have more time to adapt their technical documentation.ica, manage testing practices and initiate certification requestsication at bodies recognized by BIS. However, the complexity of the accreditation system and the high number of categories involved make immediate compliance and preparation work necessary, to support which FEDERMACCHINE will implement - also in the short term - a series of initiatives.
